What do you do when a door closes? You wait for a window to open.
The door to Haiti is closed. I've had lots of doors close before but never has it hurt like this. The pain is more then just getting your fingers or toes caught, more like your heart slammed and broken into two pieces. Half of my heart is still in Haiti and it will always be there.
I asked to go back to the orphanage and was declined.
This news came three weeks ago and yet every time I think about this fact it still hurts like the first time I read those words. This doesn't mean that I will never go back but it will be at least a year before I will go back, back to St. Joe's with Deb.
This hurts and I'm sad. I keep thinking about what wonderful blessings this summer has brought to the orphanage -new children, the medical clinic and much more. How I wish I was going back to see how the children have grown, to see you-you's new cats and sink, to see the clinic, jimmy and junior.
so what do you do when the door has closed? I keep walking back to try the handle and see if the door is unlocked. I'm not ready to give up. Yet, I guess you'll never find the open window unless you look for it.
bravo to Carsen and Anne for the time they can give to the o, and to all the mom's and dad's going. Give them an extra hug from me the next time you go, especially Steven.

My niece is dealing with the exact same thing. Her heart is in Haiti, and I watch her in pain trying to deal with the 'no'.
So understand I hear your pain and I am praying for you both! Always keep checking to see if the door is unlocked again!
In the meantime ask God what he wants you to do stateside. Because there is something, trust me!
I will pray He gives you eyes to see and ears to hear.And encouragement to wait.

Your desire to come to Haiti is encouraging. When I feel like I've had enough, I think of people like you and Bethany longing to be in my position. I am so blessed to be a part of these children's lives and what the Lord is doing in Haiti. Thank you for what you did while here and your continued prayers. Keep searching His heart; He has promised that He will reveal Himself to you. He is in control and has a mighty plan for you!

Hi, this is Bethany. I have been trying to come up with words to say to you, but truthfully the only thing I know to say is that your time will come. You may not know a lot about my situation, and it isn't something I am going to put in this comment. Our situations are so different and yet they are alike at the same time. Christ will supply you with all the comfort that you need. Even when the window seems so far away like you can see the light and yet never reach keep walking because it will eventually get closer.
