Three Angels

Here is some information about Three Angels (where I'll be staying)
  • Location: Port Au Price, a block away from St. Joesph's Home for Boys. St. Joe's is where I stayed last time and it gives me great comfort that they are so close. I trust them.
  • Goals: Everyday, Three Angels Children's Relief, strives to impact the lives of the most impoverished children of Haiti. Our goal is to enrich their bodies with food, empower their minds through education and enlarge their spirits with love an compassion. We want to try to save these children from death and give them home for their future.
  • History: Angels Home was opened on March 1, 2003. They started by caring for 7 children. They now can care for up to 42 children and young infants. Some of these children were brought to the home by grandparents, mothers who are to malnourished themselves to care for their child, and some were found on the street.
  • Three Angels Christian Academy: This Elementary school opened in September of 2005. Most of the children go to school on scholarship. If it wasn't for this gift they won't go to school at all. There are around 450 students attending school! The children are being feed a one meal at school consisting of bread with peanut butter. They are looking for more financial aid to feed the children beans, rice, and milk. Most likely this is the only meal they will eat all day.

game plan

I leave in 4 weeks. 4 That's crazy. I have so much to do. In all reality I have two weeks to be packed and ready to go. I get my shots this week so all the paper, money, and medical issues will be done and out of the way.

Now that I know where I will be staying I can start to focus on the children there and what their needs are. I still plan on doing some art and recreation with the children there. Here are some of the art projects I plan on leading. They are very simple yet some of these children have never painted before. I think it will be amazing to see how creativity will seep out of them once they are given the chance to express.

Projects for Pre-schoolers:
Bloto
Bubble Prints
Easel Painting
Finger Painting
Ping-Pong Painting
Play Dough (homemade)
Sand Art
Scritch Scratch
Sting Painting
Tissue Paper Collage
Warming Tray.

bring back some memories? I also am asking for paper puzzles (paper because of weight issues). I was told that some of these children can speak 2, 3 languages at the age of 7 but can't put together a puzzle. They lack critical thinking. I'm looking into some activities that will invoke the process.

Games, I'm not sure yet. I need to make a list and start thinking about what I could lead. Nylon Hose Play is always an option but I don't know how I would get it out there. Yes, like stockings, pantyhose. My dear Grandfather invented this "hose play" and it truly is the perfect thing to give a child. You can make so many things out of it. It's colorful, light, washable, soft and the kids love it. you can make frisbees, balls, sock rockets, rag balls, what ever. It's amazing. Laugh now but don't judge until you've played. soooooo that is an option but I only have two bags. We will see how it all pans out.

He is working like He promises

Praise the Lord!!!!

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more then all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen (He is working like He promises) gp

I'm sooo happy right now. My trip has been going back and forth for a while now with plans changing and I was feeling kinda down about it all. Short story- I'm now only going for 5 weeks and not 7 because of a money issue. That's still a month and all though it doesn't seem that long now I'm sure it will be plenty of time when I get there.

The best news is that I talked to Gretchen about staying at Three Angles. She is sending me the application tomorrow. She was very nice and seemed just as excited as I was. She made it sound like the application was just a chance for her to get to know me more then for me getting the job. I'm in!!!

This is what I've been waiting for. Now I can start to take the next steps in preparing for my trip. Now I know the group I am working with and can start to think about their needs and how I can benefit them the most. This is wonderful. I'll start asking for donations from my church and getting all the art projects lined up. I once again have a purpose.
I can't stop smiling. I feel like I'm glowing. I can't keep this inside. This feeling very peaceful yet filled with energy and pure joy. My feet are rising off the ground. I'm going. I'm going to love and play with those children, all 31 of them. To bring smiles to their faces.

This is where I felt like the children could benefit from my gifts the most. A chance to engage in art activities and games. We forget how these children don't know how to play, they have never had the chance to create or explore. This is what I want to give them. I have a lot of research to do and "lesson plans" to make!!!!! What fun!!!

Be joyful with me for this is great news!

this is where I'll be!

A-OK

!!!!!!!!!

God is good and does answer prayers. The trip is still on
and I'm going! Now I need a place to stay. I'm working out
the details now but the more I think about going back the
bigger the smile is on my face.

On a serious note my dear 11 year old brother broke out in
tears at the dinner table. He doesn't want to let me go.
He doesn't know how to let the Lord take care of me....someone
that he has never met before, touched, how can he trust the Lord
to bring me safely home?......
HE IS 11. 11 years old
For him to even express this blows me away and brought me to
tears. I know it will be hard for my family and I pray that
they will understand what God is calling me to do and that it is
out of their and my hands. I pray that I will come back safely to
them. Pray for little Levi...have faith my brother!

Going back

I need your prayers.
There is now a possibility that my trip will be canceled.
To even think about this option hurts. I want to go back.
There is so much for me to learn still. I pray that my time there is not over
and done with. I can't share the details with you but the trip is in jeopardy right now.

Plans if I do go:
I will first help with whatever needs to be done. Cooking, dishes, washing, feeding, cleaning what ever I can help with. Then on the side I feel that I have a gift of leading people in recreation/games and art. This is my gift to share. This is what I have to offer. I would not only like to lead the children but to teach my skills to others so they might carry on with this joy once I'm gone. This is what I feel called
to do. Programing with the children and caretakers ofdevelopmentary appropriate art/recreation projects to do with young children. How to teach this. This is more for in my future, not this trip, but I will get my feet wet and see what it's like.

This trip will to be to fix myself and to grow closer to God. I need to learn what it means to put full trust in the Lord, for Him to provide and protect. This is how I feel. All I want to do is to give my love. To love the children. To find the invisible ones. To listen and learn.

pray that this will work out and if not that I will understand God's reasoning.

GOOD NEWS

I'm going back!!!!!

March 3rd - April 15th

I'm going back!!!!

Where is the Love?

I sit here in my room looking at all the junk I need to rid myself of but the one thing that I want to add is a family.

I want a family. In Haiti family comes first. I was amazed at how this love was shown in the village, at the home, and in our group. God made us so that we could love. It's something true, real, and fulfilling.

I don't know if I could ever have a child of my own because I want to love all the children of this world. I want to call them all by name and show my love.

Love was the one thing I felt that all of Haiti was asking for. Think, think of a time when you were all alone and just wanted to be loved. Just knowing that someone was thinking about you would give you comfort. The feeling that your not alone. That is what they are asking for. You can see it in their eyes if only you take the time to look.

Love

That's what Jensi asked for as he brushed my hand to wake me from a nap. All he wanted from me was for me to be with him and to love him. I'm here. You're in my heart. Feel my love. These people will never leave me.

I challenge you to love. Love all. We were made and commanded to love so do it! Share the love that God fills you with. His love is so great and abundant that it should over flow into the people that you interact with. Share the love.
